The regular maintenance of the City water mains and fire hydrants is expected to begin on October 2, 2023 from 8:00 pm to 12:00 am, Monday through Thursday, and is expected to conclude on or about November 17, 2023.
Flushing of fire hydrants will discharge sediment resulting in the possibility that some customers may experience short periods of “rusty” or discolored water. Temporary cold water discoloration is a normal occurrence during this type of cleaning and hydrant maintenance program. If you experience rusty or discolored water, we recommend you run an outside spigot until the water is clear. If an outside spigot is not available, run cold water through your bathtub or shower.
The Water Utility schedules system flushing and cleansing on a regular basis to maintain and improve water quality for all customers. Additionally, water samples are taken during the flushing program to measure and document the effectiveness of the City’s water treatment facilities. This is an important operational aspect of maintaining compliance with State and Federal Drinking Water Regulations.
The Water Utility thanks our customers for their patience and cooperation during this period. Any discoloration or interruption of water services should be minimal.
Water customers with questions or concerns should contact the Water Utility Service Division at (856) 794-4056, Monday through Friday between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm
